Corollary / Questions
Questions.
Corollary is an iPad app for people who write mathematics: you write by hand with Apple Pencil, and each line is typeset in real LaTeX. Here are plain answers about how it works.
The app
What is Corollary?
Corollary is an iPad app for people who write mathematics. You write and draw by hand with Apple Pencil, and each line is typeset in real LaTeX beside your handwriting. Your notes are searchable, connect to the apps you already use, and can be read by Claude and ChatGPT through MCP.
Where can I use it?
On iPad with Apple Pencil, which is where you write. The Mac and iPhone apps open the same notebooks so you can review, typeset and export them.
How is Corollary different from Goodnotes or Notability?
Goodnotes and Notability are general notebooks that can convert handwritten equations you select. Corollary is built for people who write mathematics: every line on the page has a typeset LaTeX version beside it, in one document whose source you can edit and export, and your notes can be read by the AI you already use.
Which apps does Corollary connect to?
Google Drive, Dropbox and iCloud Drive for your files; Overleaf and GitHub for your LaTeX; Zotero for your papers; Notion, Obsidian and Slack for sharing; and Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for AI. Workspace connections are part of Pro.
Handwriting and LaTeX
How does Corollary turn handwriting into LaTeX?
As you finish a line, Corollary typesets it in LaTeX beside your ink, so the handwritten page and its typeset version grow together. You can open the source to edit it, then export a .tex file or a PDF. A handwritten theorem becomes:
\begin{theorem}[Bolzano--Weierstrass]
Every bounded sequence $(x_n)\subset\mathbb{R}$ has a convergent subsequence.
\end{theorem}Do I need to know LaTeX?
No. You write by hand and Corollary writes the LaTeX. If you already use LaTeX, the source is there to edit, with templates, packages and a symbol palette, and you can take the .tex file to Overleaf or your own editor.
Can I search my handwritten notes and drawings?
Yes. Search looks across every notebook, including handwriting, drawings, typed text and LaTeX, so you can find an idea by what you wrote rather than by the file it is in. Search across notes is part of Pro.
AI and your files
Can Claude or ChatGPT view and edit my notes?
Yes, if you let them. Corollary runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP apps can read and search the folders you choose. Access is off by default and set per folder. Anything an AI writes arrives as a suggestion, labelled with its name, that you accept or remove.
There is no chat inside Corollary: you use the AI you already have. AI access is part of Pro.
Where are my files stored?
On your iPad first. Without an account, everything stays on your device. With Pro, your notebooks sync to Corollary’s cloud storage, and you can keep copies in iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox. You can export your work at any time (PDF and PNG on Free; .tex too on Pro) and delete your account and its data whenever you want.
Plans and access
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free includes the blank canvas, PDF to notes (import a PDF and write on it) and basic exports to PDF and PNG. Pro adds Notes → LaTeX, AI access through MCP, search across notes, workspace connections, cloud storage and priority support, for $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year (17% less than paying monthly).
Is there an enterprise plan?
Yes. Enterprise is for labs, departments and teams: everything in Pro, licences for your whole group, one bill and one admin, onboarding for your department and dedicated support. Write to hello@trycorollary.com for pricing.
How do I get access?
Corollary is in development. Join the waitlist with your email and we will write to you when it is ready for you to try.
